EXTRACTS OVERVIEW

THE ROLE OF PEPTIDES

Smaller chains of amino acid peptides, such as those within the Laminin Amino Avian Egg Extract Formula, are also known more commonly as Oligopeptides. These are easily transported through the intestinal membrane and can also be used as transport mechanisms for drugs.

Peptides are short polymers which are formed through linking in a defined order, of α-amino acids. Proteins are multi peptide chains.

In order to perform its functions, it is required for proteins to be broken down into smaller peptides which will eventually turn into amino acids in order to effectively perform its functions. The dietary intake of amino acids which reach their ultimate destination is extremely beneficial.

The hypothalamus of the brain contains the majority of the compounds also known as Peptides. These are responsible for the crucial functions of communicating sensory impulses to the endocrine system (hormone producing glands).

The complexities of the various types of peptides, their effects, and the mechanisms of their effects require further extensive study in order to gain an in depth understanding of them. It is unfortunate however that most of these studies are conducted in isolation and fail to consider the complete picture when it comes to the various complex mechanisms that take place within the human body. In addition, these studies have primarily focused on particular amino acids peptides or neurotransmitters.

The results of these studies do shed light on the final activities of amino acids, peptides and their mechanism of transport. The final destination of this activity and conveyance however is still under debate. The arguments put forward manage to cast a shadow on the need and importance of nutritional supplements. Most doctors are of the view that nutritional supplements ‘cannot hurt’ but do not take the extra step to endorse them.

The reason behind this behavior is the lack of evidence when it comes to the active ingredients which are formulated in the correct form in order to be used by the body.
